Rabbit polyclonal to MBD4.Methyl-CpG-binding domain protein 4 (MBD4) is a nuclear protein containing 1 MBD (methyl-CpGbinding)domain. MBD4 was first identified as a methyl-CpG-binding protein. It was demonstrated laterthat MBD4 is a mismatch-specific DNA N-glycosylase involved in DNA repair. MBD4 has thymineglycosylase activity and is specific for G:T mismatches within methylated and unmethylated CpG sites.MBD4 can also remove uracil or 5-fluorouracil in G:U mismatches, while it does not have lyase activity.
