African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) P72 (His Tag) Protein

The major capsid protein, p72, is encoded by the viral gene B646L assembling the mainly outmost protein shell of ASFV. The protein p72 is the most dominant structural component of the virion with a relative molecular weight of 73.2 kDa, making it one of the major antigens detected in infected pigs. It is very important in forming the viral capsid in late stage expression of virus infection. The structure of p72 is formed by a stable trimer spike of ～85 Å in height and ～85 Å in diameter constituted by three p72 molecules. The p72 monomer adopts a double jelly-roll structure. The two jelly-roll β-barrels constitute the pseudo hexagonal base of the trimer, and the insertions in between β-strands of the jelly-roll barrels constitute the protruding top of the trimer.
