In Vivo	In Male Fischer 344 rats (40-50-day-old), Amikacin hydrate (320 mg/kg; subcutaneous injection; daily; for 10 days) induces hearing loss in rat.
In Vitro	Amikacin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat different types of bacterial infections. Amikacin works by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and leavin the bacterium unable to synthesize proteins vital to its growth. Read more...
