Harmaline hydrochloride is a fluorescent beta-carboline alkaloid and a partially hydrogenated derivative of harmine. It is widely used in neuroscience research, particularly for studying tremor mechanisms, as it induces rhythmic firing in inferior olivary neurons in vivo.

In Vivo	Harmaline could exert on antitumor activity with a dose of 15 mg/kg/day in vivo, which is related with cell cycle arrest.Harmaline also induces cognitive disturbances such as motor and spatial learning impairments.
