Rabbit polyclonal to MMP17.Matrix metalloproteinase-17 (MMP17) belongs to the peptidase M10A family. It is an endopeptidasethat degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as fibrin. It may be involved in theactivation of membrane-bound precursors of growth factors or inflammatory mediators, such as tumornecrosis factor-alpha. MMP17 may also be involved in tumoral process. It is not obvious if MMP17 isable to proteolytically activate progelatinase A. It does not hydrolyze collagen types I, II, III, IV and V,gelatin, fibronectin, laminin, nor alpha1-antitrypsin.
